Rakshit Shetty's Paramvah Studio responded to the case of copyright violation

Kannada actor Rakshit Shetty has found himself in the middle of a copyright dispute involving his latest movie, 'Bachelor Party.' MRT Music, a prominent music company, has accused Shetty and his production house, Paramvah Studios, of using their songs without proper authorization.

Naveen Kumar, a partner at MRT Music, filed a complaint stating that 'Bachelor Party' featured songs from the movies 'Gaalimaathu,' which are owned by MRT Music. The dispute revolves around the claim that Shetty and his team did not obtain the necessary permissions before including these tracks in their film.

Back in January 2024, discussions between Rakshit Shetty and MRT Music were initiated to secure the rights for these songs. Unfortunately, these talks did not result in any formal agreement. MRT Music has now escalated the matter by taking legal action against Shetty and Paramvah Studios.

In response to the allegations, Paramvah Studios has issued a statement on their social media page, questioning the legitimacy of the copyright infringement claims. The studio's statement reads:

"Is this really copyright infringement? If it is, then what is the cost that we should pay? Because we were previously quoted an exorbitant price by MRT. If it is not copyright infringement, then how do we handle such harassment from music companies in the future? We don't know, and we would like to find out."

The studio further clarified their stance, stating their intent to fight the case in court. Paramvah Studios emphasized that their decision is not just for their benefit but also for the broader film industry, which might face similar challenges:

"Thus, to seek justice and clarity, we have decided to fight this case in the court. Not just for us but for any and every filmmaker who might face similar challenges in the future."

As the case unfolds, it will be interesting to see how it shapes the relationship between filmmakers and music companies in the Kannada film industry.
